Pictures from New York – Chrysler Building – Grand Central Station – Apple Store New York

March 19, 2012 | 10

The days in New York were really great and during the trips and actual postings in the past, I didn’t had the time to add more pictures from New York City to my blog. So taking today the chance for a few additional pictures (one more posting with Times Square by Night will follow…)

These pictures show you the world famous Chrysler Building and also Grand Central Station – the main railway station in New York with the imposive high ceiling. Grand Central Terminal (which is the official name of Grand Central Station) is the biggest railway station in the world with currently 67 tracks on two floors… and 21.600.00 people using the station every year.

Different fashion and electronic stores are located at Grand Central Station and in their lower levels and also on the main course is a real special store – the new Apple Store in New York. When reading about it some time ago, I won’t believe that they got this premium marketing piece for their company – but it really is… – get your electronic items before getting the train. The ticket booth are often replaced by automatic machines and the clock in the middle of the information booth has a value of approx. 20 million US$.

If you visit New York – you have to make a stop on Grand Central Station just for a few minutes, to see all these people on a rush… More pictures of NYC and my trips are also online at PINTEREST. (follow me if you like…)

My stay in Berlin – Westin Grand Hotel Berlin – Friedrichstrasse – Review and Pictures

March 18, 2012 | 8

During the ITB (International Tourism Show) in Berlin I also looked for a great hotel to stay and decided to visit the world famous Westin Grand Hotel Berlin again. I knew the hotel from the past, but after their renovations, it is a real great spot again and the perfect starting point for Berlin. The Westin Grand Hotel is located on Friedrichstrasse (famous for shopping…) and “Unter den Linden” which will connnect the famous Brandenburg Gate with Berlin Cathedrale, TV-Tower and is really close to the German Parliament on the one hand and Sony Center at Potsdamer Platz on the other hand.

I arrived an hour earlier than expected, but the greeting during checkin was really friendly and they recognized me with a nice welcome back. The requested room was already prepared and they gave me a wonderful upgrade to a suite on second floor, located to the famous Boulevard “Unter den Linden”. The new rooms / suites are really friendly decorated and I personally appreciate it, if everything is ready (no asking for internet access, complementary water on the room, small welcome greeting, etc.) the relaxing starts much quicker.

They had a nice welcome amenity for me prepared with a little bit of fruits, something to drink, a small piece of cake and the living room was perfect – not very often that I spent so much time in the hotelroom in the living room or on working desk to write for you… but here it is quite comfortable. The view from my windows was gorgeous… where a lot of tourists start their tour – I just had to open my windows… :) Two flatscreens, large and comfortable bath room and a great wellness-area also on this hotel with a big pool and great massages…

The hotel is also famous for their architecture and great stair and Atrium – you might have seen the hotel already on movies (e.g. “The Bourne Identity”) and this is one of the only hotels worldwide with the real historic “Grand Hotel feeling”…

You have different dining options in the hotel or you walk outside for the famous restaurants around. I decided to eat outside the hotel and just took breakfast in the morning (and I remembered they had a great breakfast which is still true.)

Prepared for checkout – everything was ready again, my car was in front of the hotel waiting for me, luggage assistance was really quick and helpful, checkout without any problems and bell captain asked if I need driving directions for Berlin to go home. Result: “A perfect spot in Berlin and I am sure, I know where I will stay when I will be back in Berlin in the next months…”

Chic Outlet Shopping – The Villages & Miles and More… Great day for me – I won…

March 14, 2012 | 6

I told you three days ago that I will write about the reason for my trip to the ITB (International Tourism Show) in Berlin and it was really great. A few weeks ago I received the information that Chic Outlet Shopping (with Shopping-Villages e.g. in London, Barcelona, Milan, Madrid, Paris) will invite 50 frequent flyers by Lufthansa and their partnerprogram (Miles & More) to the ITB for a meet and great and the chance to win… tickets were also paid by Chic Outlet Shopping, so nothing to loose… I received the information that I was one of the fifty lucky ones and went to Berlin.

Chic Outlet Shopping - The Villages & Miles and More... Great day for me - I won...

The only thing you have to do is visit their booth at the ITB on Saturday March 10th, 2012 and enter your invitation to their raffle. In the meantime, you are invited for snacks and drinks and can take a look on the villages.

The team of Chic Outlet Shopping was really friendly and gave me a lot of information about the Villages and I am sure, that I will visit the Village in Ingolstadt (70km in the North of Munich), Bicester (near London) and La Roca (near Barcelona) within the next weeks. We talked about two of my favorites – Fashion & Travel and the different ways of shopping worldwide and the interesting architecture of the Villages created by Chic Outlet Shopping.

The booth got really crowded in the afternoon and more and more people entered the raffle, and I didn’t expect to win… – but I won… they had five prizes in combination with Lufthansa and Miles & More and each price had a value of 30,000 airline miles you can redeem for flights to all European destinations or currently for free flights to the Seychelles, Nairobi (Kenya), Mauritius, Maledives, Mombasa (Kenya), Las Vegas, Anchorage, Fort Lauderdale (USA) – I will really have to think about where I want to go – but I still cannot believe it.. (the last picture is a huge boarding ticket size 60x25cm) I left the ITB with and everyone was starring at me… :) – Thank you very much Chic Outlet Shopping & Lufthansa for this day and great trip…

Berlin by Night – Pictures from Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag, Berlin Cathedral and Alex

March 12, 2012 | 5

Before I write about my experiences at the Chic Outlet Booth at the International Tourism Show in Berlin – I wanted to share pictures of Berlin with you. Pictures were taken on the evening after the tourism show. I had the opportunity to stay at the fantastic Westin Grand Hotel with view to Brandenburg Gate and Alex (TV-Tower).

So I started my trip with a walk to Brandenburg Gate for a few evening pictures, before walking to Reichstag (Germany’s parliament building) and a few political buildings. I really like to discover these cities by night – not so crowded and completely different. After that a walk to the beautiful Berlin Cathedral and the TV-tower (Alex) on the right side. The interesting building with the light belongs to the University of Berlin.

I hope you like my nightshots and if you like – more pics are on my PInterest profile. Please follow my channel, if you like (and leave also a comment if you have your own PInterest-Channel)…

ITB Berlin – My trip to worlds leading travel show – Lufthansa Business Class, Emirates

March 11, 2012 | 3

One of the reasons of my trip to Berlin was the invitation to visit the ITB Berlin – the worlds leading travel show, with all famous airlines, great hotels and beautiful locations on one place. With the total of 26 exhibition halls I had to select my favorites before and used the IPhone app of the ITB to meet all the interesting people. With 150k+ airlines miles per year and 60-80 nights in hotels per year, travelling and the comfort of travel is really important for me.

ITB Berlin - My trip to worlds leading travel show - Lufthansa Business Class, Emirates

So I decided to make one of the first stops at Lufthansa – to take a look on their new full-flat business class available on their new Boeing 747-8 and give it a try. The seat the typical Lufthansa grey a little bit with an angle to your neighbour and comfortable. (I personally have to say I am a bit disappointed, comparing the new seat with other airlines, already offering for years – a big announcement but no new milestone…)

Continuing the trip with stops at Etihad and Qatar Airways with their new projects (impressing, but still no new milestone) I stopped at Emirates Airlines – huge spot at the ITB with great service and also the chance to take a look on their new bar and new shower-room on the Airbus A-380… never thought about taking a shower on a flight… :) – Thai Airways shows their new classes (voted best Economy seat and service in 2011) and their new Airbus A-380 starting the service from Frankfurt to Bangkok with the winter flight schedule. The service on their booth at the ITB was the same as during the flight – maybe I should write about the experience I had on my flight with Thai Airways to Sydney in the future?

Finally I went to the booth of Chic Outlet Shopping with their nine European Villages and 900 boutiques near Munich, Frankfurt, London, Barcelona and more. It was a real wonderful booth with great service and very informative. I am sure I will have to visit their villages near Ingolstadt (Germany) and in Beicester (near London, UK) in the close future. More about my experiences and what also happend with me at the ITB :) … will follow tomorrow…

Video: Cologne Cathedral and river Rhine – crossing bridge with padlocks – silver coat by Hugo Boss

March 11, 2012 | 2

Back from Berlin and time for a few updates of the weekend. First I uploaded the video with the padlocks at Hohenzollern-Bridge, crossing river Rhine and with my outfit, you saw already on pictures a few days ago.

I really like this style – if it is a bit warmer, I am travelling and I still have a few hours before a meeting, so I can visit interesting spots in every city. Please subscribe to my Youtube-Channel for my new clips coming soon.
