During my trip to New York it was a must-visit for me this time – the Highline Park in Manhattan, which starts from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District (with all the famous labels) up to 30th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenue. The first part opened in June 2009, the second till 30th street in June 2011.
I read a lot of this Highline Park and it is wonderful to walk a few meters above the streets on an old railroad track. You will see most of the attractions in the background (take a look on the pictures below with Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Statue of Liberty, etc.) and it is great to walk – also with higher heels…
It was a sunny, but cold day in the morning, so take the metro down to Meatpacking district, browse around the stores and then start walking back to your hotel on 42nd street (or take the metro for the final step from 34th/Penn-Station to 42nd/Port Authority). Hope you like the pictures…

Es war ein sonniger, wenn auch sehr kalter Morgen, also zunächst die Metro in das Meatpacking District nehmen, ein wenig durch die Shops schlendern und dann mit dem Rückweg zum Hotel in der 42. Straße beginnen (oder nehmt die Metro für das letzte Stück von der 34. Straße/Pennstation bis zur 42. Straße/Port Authority)… Ich hoffe Euch gefallen die Fotos…

Part II of my pictures of Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline – this time by night. Taken from the Brooklyn Bridge Park around 6pm in the evening and it was really cold. The wind came over the East River, but the skyline is still impressive.
On a few pictures you will see the new World Trade Center (WTC1 – still on construction – opening 2013) and on the total right of the pictures – behind the Brooklyn Bridge – you will see the Empire State Building.
On other pictures you will see really small Statue of Liberty on the left and the Manhattan Skyline on the right. If you want to go to the park in the evening, it is very close by Subway / Metro from Manhattan Island and you have to walk about 5 Minutes to come to East River. Auf einigen Fotos seht Ihr bereits als scheinbar höchstes Gebäude das neue World Trade Center (WTC1 – noch im Bau – Eröffnung 2013) und ganz rechts auf einigen Bildern, hinter der Brooklyn Bridge – das Empire State Building.
Auf weiteren Fotos seht Ihr die wirklich kleine Freiheitsstatue ganz links, sowie die Manhattan Skyline rechts. Wenn Ihr den Park einmal am Abend besuchen möchtet, ist er sehr schnell mit der Metro von Manhattan zu erreichen und man läuft ca. 5 Minuten zum East River. During my trip to New York I also wanted to make a stop at the famous Michael Kors store @ 5th Avenue, Manhattan. The store is in front of the famous Rockefeller Center Building with the ice skating rink.
If you compare this store with most stores you find in Miami, Los Angeles or also here in Munich it is much bigger and you will find nearly every item you also find on the onlinestore. The service is very friendly and helpful – but the store is also highly frequented by tourist. My personal favorite Michael Kors stores are currently the one in Munich, Theatinerstrasse or in Boca Raton, Florida (Boca Town Center)
Hope you like the new handbags and watches (I do not wear a Michael Kors watch, I prefer a different label :) ) – the clothes are also very great and I really like the new collection.

Wenn man diesen Store mit den meisten Geschäften in Miami, Los Angeles oder auch hier in München vergleicht, ist dieser Store viel größer und es gibt wirklich fast jeden Artikel aus dem Onlinestore. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit – aber auch sehr von Touristen frequentiert. Meine persönlichen Lieblings-Michael-Kors-Geschäfte sind noch immer, der Store in München in der Theatinerstraße, sowie in Boca Raton, Florida (Boca Town Center).
Ich hoffe Euch gefallen die neuen Handtaschen und Uhren (ich trage zwar selber keine Uhr von Michael Kors und bevorzuge ein anderes Label :) ..) – die Kleidung im Geschäft war ebenfalls sehr schön und gefällt mir sehr gut.

And another update of my wonderful days in New York. But first of all – wishing you and your love ones a wonderful Valentine’s day. I hope you will enjoy the evening together, go out for dinner, etc. – but first of all – enjoy the new pictures of NYC.
These pictures are taken opposite of Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge, you can take the Metro to Brooklyn (if you stay 3 or more days in NYC take the 7-day unlimited card for USD 29) and walk about 500 meters to the East River with a beautiful view of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building and the new World Trade Center 1 (WTC1 – currently on construction).
As you can see on my pictures, it was a really wonderful day with sunshine and blue sky, perfect for a walk at the Brooklyn Bridge Park, where they celebrate concerts, opera events or sport events. I will show you more pictures with Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline by Night on the next postings… but I am sure you will love it.

Wie Ihr auf den Bildern erkennen könnt, war es ein wirklich wunderschöner Tag in New York mit Sonnenschein und blauem Himmel, perfekt für einen Spaziergang im Brooklyn Bridge Park, wo auch Konzerte, Opernveranstaltungen oder Sportveranstaltungen abgehalten werden. Weitere Fotos mit der Brooklyn Bridge bei Nacht, folgen in Kürze und ich bin mir sicher, sie werden Euch gefallen.
After the really sad pictures two days ago, about my visit of the 9/11 memorial I wanted to share another short clip and a few pictures with you. I had a real great guide, who had time in the evening at the 9/11 memorial and told me a few things what will come next to the museum and where the find more about this tragically moment.
Not to far away from WTC memorial is a private place, runs by a family member of a son who died at 9/11 and they collected items of other families who also lost their loved ones and share their collecting items with all people interested. The entrace is free, but a donation to keep the private museum alive is appreciated. (I will not post photos of this location, if you are interested, please visit it by yourself)
The other pictures are taken at Battery Park – not to far away from World Trade Center and the 9/11 memorial and you will see the sculpture, which had the place between the two twin towers for about thirty years and was completly damaged during the attacks. It was opened as a memorial site, before the official 9/11 memorial was build. It is still available with an eternal flame next to it.
The second part is a small video clip, recorded with my Iphone 4S during the evening visit of the 9/11 memorial and will give you an impression how it looks like with motion of the fountains.
This will be my final posting about the 9/11 moments, but I also wanted to share these moments with you. Tomorrow I will continue writing about New York, Fashion, Central Park and shoes…

Translate: Nach den wirklich traurigen Bildern vor zwei Tagen, über meinen Besuch beim 9/11 Memorial, wollte ich heute noch einmal einen kurzen Clip und ein paar weitere Fotos mit Euch teilen. Ich hatte einen wirklich netten Führer an der Gedenkstätte, der abends noch die Zeit hatte und mir Dinge über ein privates Museum erzählt hat und wo man weitere Dinge in der Stadt finden kann.
Nicht zu weit entfernt vom WTC Memorial ist ein privater Ort, geführt von Familienmitgliedern, deren Sohn am 11. September 2001 gestorben ist und die gemeinsam mit anderen Familien Erinnerungen gesammelt haben und diese mit Interessierten teilen. Der Eintritt ist kostenlos, aber eine Spende wird gerne genommen. (Ich werde von diesem Ort keine Fotos posten, wenn ihr Interesse habt, besucht den Ort bitte selber)
Die anderen Fotos sind aufgenommen worden, im Battery Park, nicht weit entfernt vom World Trade Center und 9/11 Memorial und Ihr seht eine Skulptur, die Ihren Platz zwischen den beiden Türmen über 30 Jahre hatte und vollständig beschädigt wurde, während der Angriffe. Es wurde zunächst nur als temporäre Gedenkstätte gedacht, aber ist nach wie vor aktiv mit dem ewigen Licht.
Der zweite Teil ist ein kleiner Videoclip, aufgenommen mit meinem IPhone 4S während des Abendbesuchs am 9/11 Memorial und gibt euch einen einfachen Eindruck, wie die Brunnen mit Bewegung wirken.
Dieses wird mein letzter Post über den 11. September 2001 gewesen sein, aber ich wollte auch diese Momente mit euch teilen. Ab morgen geht es dann weiter mit New York, Fashion, Central Park und tollen Schuhen…

New York is really beautiful again, the weather for the first days of February amazing – sunshine everywhere and so many new places to discover.

New York ist auch dieses Mal wieder wunderbar, das Wetter für die ersten Tage im Februar unglaublich – Sonnenschein so weit man gucken kann und viele neue Plätze zum entdecken.
Gestern aar der Superbowl Tag und die New York Giants haben gewonnen, was hier los war, könnt Ihr euch dann ja vermutlich denken – Fotos folgen dazu später – Euch einen schönen Tag – Grüße aus NYC – xt T.
Yesterday was my visit for my trip to the former place of the World Trade Center and the new building site. I saw parts of the new WTC1 on my last trip, but this time the memorial place was opened to public (Museum will open on 9/11/12 with a huge exhibition).
For me, it was depressing feeling – when I was younger and we went to New York, it was always the tradition to go on WTC platform first. Now you stand there, where about 3,000 people died in minutes after these horrible attacks.
You have to pre-register and order your tickets online without any costs and gt the tickets by email. Just show your tickets, pass security controls and you are allowed to enter.
In my opinion the place is really impressing and a must-visit-place in New York as you can see on the pictues below. I did it twice, in the morning and short before closing in the afternoon, as I wanted to see the lights.

Translate: Am gestrigen Tage war mein Trip an die ehemalige Stelle der Twin-Towers des World Trade Centers geplant und ebenfalls an die neue Baustelle. Ich konnte den neuen WTC1 bereits auf meiner letzten Reise sehen, aber die Gedenkstätte war erst dieses mal geöffnet (das Museum wird am 11. September 2012 mit einer sehr großen Ausstellung öffnen)
Für mich war es ein bedrückendes Gefühl – als ich jünger war, gehörte es immer zu den ersten Dingen auf der NYC-Liste, die Aussichtsplattform zu besuchen. Jetzt steht man dort, wo innerhalb kürzester Zeit fast 3.000 Menschen getötet wurden.
Ihr benötigt zum Besuch der Gedenkstätte Tickets, die Ihr vorab online bestellen könnt und ohne Kosten per Email erhaltet. Danach nur noch Tickets am Einlass vorzeigen, Sicherheitskontrollen (wie am Flughafen) passieren und Ihr könnt die Gedenkstätte betreten.
Meiner Meinung nach ist das 9/11-Memorial wirklich sehr gelungen und ein Pflichtbesucht in New York, wie man auf den Fotos sehen kann. Ich habe es einmal im Morgen gemacht und war am Nachmittag noch einmal da, da ich die Beleuchtung sehen wollte.

Immigration and getting the luggage was really quick, but the shuttle service needed about 90 minutes from JFK-Airport to Midtown-Manhattan. Next time I take the taxi again.
So you will receive the first pictures of Times Square already by night, but wanted to show you all – I arrived safely and had a quick coffee at Starbucks @ Times Square.

I wrote a few days ago that I cannot wait to go to New York again. I love the city, the possibilities and also the great places, shops and clubs. Whenever you go to New York – you find something new.
For me it is great to visit cities living 24hours, so when you feel the jetlag and wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning, you can go to Times Square or other spots for an early breakfast in the morning.
I took the flight this morning from Munich Airport (MUC – gate H14) to New York – John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) operated by Lufthansa (flight LH410) and it was really interesting to see that most business people fly economy class now. I cannot understand the policy by Lufthansa – offering flights for 400€ in economy (including taxes) and for a business class ticket (without flatbeds) they want to charge you between 3.000 and 4.000€ – so business class was nearly empty, economy class filled by 70%. Usually I fly business class but if they offer the flight for 39€ plus 360€ taxes – you can better fly twice to New York before wasting the money for a business class fare.
The service on board was o.k. – typical Lufthansa and not to compare with Etihad or Emirates, Thai Airways or Singapore Airways, but what to expect for 400€.
I am currently writing this somewhere between Iceland and Greenland and have 5 hours remaining flight time. Usually I wanted to post this text online, as Lufthansa offers on most of their longhaul intercontinental flights between Europe and North America internet access (Lufthansa-Flynet) for a small fee and I wanted to try it, but it won’t work in the whole plane, so you have to receive these news, when I am in NYC.

The schedule for my next days in New York is filled with a lot of things I want to do and visit – starting with a a trip to the 9/11 memorial, which was open in September last year and is a must-to-visit spot for me, before going elsewhere. When I was younger it was tradition to take the first subway down to World Trade Center and going to the platform for a first impression of the city again.

Before grabbing the last things for my next trip I checked my emails this morning and found an interesting email by Lufthansa with their offers for flights to Asia and especially when you see all the snow outside, the temperatures deep below zero – you wanted to go to a sunnier place and I took a look on the pictures of my trip to Bangkok some time ago.
It is such an amazing city with the combination of great culture and wonderful buildings and wonderful and very very friendly people, wherever you go. It is hard to find a big city, so different – but still wonderful.
So if you are not able to go to Bangkok by Lufthansa, you might enjoy a little bit of the first part of my pictures of Bangkok from the past. I will share more pictures with you shortly. At the end of the pictures, you will also find a small videoclip showing my view from the hotelroom to famous Chao Phraya river…

Es ist so eine faszinierende und schöne Stadt, die Kombination von toller Kultur und wunderschönen Bauwerken, dazu sehr sehr freundliche Menschen, wohin man auch immer geht. Es ist schwer eine Großstadt zu finden, die so unterschiedlich – aber absolut wunderbar ist.
Falls Ihr auch die Gelegenheit des Fluges mit Lufthansa nach Asien, oder auch besonders nach Bangkok, nicht nutzen könnt, hoffe ich das Euch die Bilder aus Bangkok vom letzten Aufenthalt gefallen.
