(Sorry english readers – only in German this time – but you can translate on the right) Traditionell gehört der Tag nach Thanksgiving in den USA zu den umsatzstärksten Einkaufstagen. Bedingt durch den Feiertag Thanksgiving am Donnerstag nutzen viele Familien den freien Tag für einen ausgiebigen Einkaufstag. Viele Geschäfte haben sich bereits darauf eingestellt und beginnen mit Angeboten und Mailings bereits einige Tage vorher.
Wir haben dieses Jahr einmal die Metropole New York etwas genauer unter die Lupe genommen und durften erfahren, dass die Woche ab Dienstag vor Thanksgiving bis Sonntag nach Thanksgiving, die Zeit mit den höchsten Hotelpreisen in New York sind. Wo Ihr im Januar für ein 4-5 Sterne Hotel häufig an Promotion-Aktionen und Zimmerpreisen um die 190 – 240 US$ kommen, müssen Ihr diese Tage mit über 400 US$ rechnen. Ob Ihr dann noch entsprechend viele Angebote finden, bleibt natürlich euch überlassen.

Die Fahrt von Newark Airport (EWR) und John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) beträgt per Taxi zwischen 50 und 70 US$ und der Mittwoch vor Thanksgiving wird von vielen Geschäften bereits zu Vorbereitungen für den Ansturm am Freitag genutzt. Der Donnerstag (Thanksgiving) ist komplett geschlossen und kann wunderbar zum Besuch der Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade (siehe gesonderter Bericht) genutzt werden.
Die großen Kaufhausketten wie Macys, Bloomingdales, Lords & Taylor locken mit Eröffnungsangeboten bereits ab Mitternacht, aber stellt euch auch direkt darauf ein, es gibt auch dann noch viele große Schlangen und Menschenmassen die darauf warten.
Bloomingdales lockte 2011 z.B. mit vielen 50% und mehr Rabattaktionen und pro 100 US$, die Ihr im Geschäft ausgegeben habt, erhaltet Ihr noch einmal einen Warengutschein über 15 US$, der innerhalb der nächsten vier Wochen verwendet werden kann.
Zum idealen Sparen bedeutet dieses also, zunächst die Tourist-Discount-Card am Customer Service kostenlos abholen (in der Regel ca. 10% Rabatt) und dann auf Rabattsuche gehen. Die wichtigsten Artikel direkt bezahlen und sich anschließend für alle Einkäufe die Gutscheinkarten abholen. Im Laufe des Tages könnt Ihr also noch genüsslich die Rabattkarten verwenden und bequem damit bezahlen.
Die Kaufhaus- und Modekette H&M lockte wieder mit großen Rabatten (bis zu 70%) sowie 2-für-1-Aktionen. Also auch hier einmal genauer hingucken.
Wenn Ihr genügend Geduld habt und Ihr euch durch die Menschenmassen schieben möchten, empfiehlt sich ein Black-Friday-Shopping-Tag in New York auf jeden Fall, nur solltet Ihr euch vorab bereits genau überlegen, wo Ihr einkaufen möchten und eure Prioritäten festlegen.
Beachtet bei der Rückkehr in die Bundesrepublik Deutschland, dass Ihr keine unbegrenzten Einfuhrmengen haben! Sollte die Freimenge überschritten sein, wählt ubnedingt den roten Ausgang bei der Einreise und verzollt die Ware entsprechend. Es ist auch in diesen Fällen häufig noch viel günstiger, als zu regulären Preisen zu kaufen oder direkt in Deutschland einzukaufen. Gleiches gilt auch bei Laptops z.B. von Apple (MacBook Pro, MacBookAir oder IPAD).
Wenn Ihr die Möglichkeit habt, bleibt bis Sonntag – dann sind viele Flüge auch sehr viel günstiger, oder lockt euch einfach mal auf der amerikanischen Seite der Lufthansa ein und schaut doch nach Einzelflügen, die oft günstiger sind als ein Hin- und Rückflug von Deuschland.
For me it was again a coming back to my former hometown Dusseldorf, to meet friends and to take a look back on the things changed over the past months.
As it was time for christmas markets everywhere in the city, I decided to go back to the “Altstadt” in evening for dinner and also to enjoy the lights of the christmas markets and decorations.
I started my trip at famous Duesseldorf Koenigsallee with all the famous labels, Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Tiffany and also not to far away Hugo Boss, Wolford, etc. – so you see a lot of interesting windows everywhere.
You will find a few snapshots I took during the trip and it was really interesting to compare the atmosphere in Duesseldorf and Munich – and I prefer Munich now. :-)
Translate: Für mich war es ein weiteres heimkommen in meine frühere Heimatstadt Düsseldorf, Freunde treffen und ein Blick auf Dinge werfen, die sich in den letzten Wochen und Monaten verändert haben.
Da die Weihnachtsmärkte in den Städten schon begonnen haben, entschied ich mich für einen Gang in die “Altstadt” am Abend für ein Abendessen und ebenso um die Lichter und Dekorationen, wie auch Weihnachtsmärkte zu genießen.
Ich bin wieder auf der Düsseldorfer Königsallee angefangen, mit den bekannten Labels Gucci, Prada, Chanel, Tiffany und nicht weit entfernt auch Hugo Boss, Wolford, etc. – überall gab es interessante und schön gestaltete Schaufenster.
Ihr findet einige Fotos, die auf dem Gang entstanden sind und es war wirklich interessant die Stimmung von Düsseldorf und München zu vergleichen – und ich ziehe München vor :-)
I received the message a few hours ago and I know, that many of you wanted to go to concerts, especially to Vienna, Strassbourg and a few of you to Earls Court, London and it was a real sad news that all following concerts are postponed.
Due to his pneumonia it was necessary to cancel all following concerts till the end of the year to get full recovery and silence. I am very sorry for all of you who wanted to go there and called me or send me emails and asked about my concert in Munich.
I have to say, the concert in Munich was still amazing with a real personal touch and I can understand how hard it is for you to get the new dates of the George Michael and the Symphonica Tour 2011. All tickets will still be valid on the new dates. I will check the information for you and will also post them to my page, after I receive them – may be I will visit another concert in London in 2012.

Auf Grund der Lungenentzündung war es notwendig alle folgenden Konzerte abzusagen und Ruhe und Erholung bis zum Jahresende zunächst einmal zu gewähren. Es tut mir wirklich sehr leid für alle von Euch, die mich über meine Erfahrungen beim George Michael Konzert befragt haben.
Ich muss nach wie vor sagen, dass Konzert war wunderbar, mit einem persönlichen Touch und ich kann verstehen wie hart es ist, auf die neuen Daten der George Michael und Symphonica Tour 2011 warten zu müssen. Alle Tickets behalten weiterhin die Gültigkeit. Ich werde für euch ein wenig die Tourdaten überprüfen und auf meiner Webseite posten. Vielleicht besuche ich dann auch noch ein Konzert in London 2012

I found this picture so typical for a great Black Friday day – bags full of interesting fashion and clothes and I know that most of you, especially in the US will wake up very early to start their personal Black Friday shopping tour.
I did it in New York a year ago and won’t believe how many people start waiting in lines 8 – 10 hours before stores open and I decided during that night, to go back to the hotel, enjoy a warm bed and start the trip in the afternoon.
It was much easier and you still find a lot of good items, you also found on my pictures and for all of you who won’t be successful or won’t wait in lines in cold November – Cyber Monday is coming and I heard from a lot of friends, the first good deals are announced. I wish you all a wonderful Friday evening – I will upload tomorrow a new fashion gallery with a new look and may be a video if they deliver my editing program by Amazon tomorrow.

Ich habe es im letzten Jahr in New York gemacht und konnte es kaum glauben, wie viele Menschen bereits 8-10 Stunden bevor die Geschäfte geöffnet haben, in Schlangen standen, so dass ich beschlossen habe, in mein warmes Hotelbett zu gehen und den Tag erst am Nachmittag zu starten.
Es war viel einfacher und man fand noch sehr viele gute Angebote, die Ihr auch zum Teil auf meinen Fotos findet und für alle von Euch, die nicht erfolgreich waren oder nicht in Schlangen in der Kälte vor den Geschäften warten wollten, der Cyber Montag kommt ja noch und ich habe von einigen Freunden schon gehört, dass es tolle Angebote geben soll.
Ich wünsche Euch alle noch einen schönen Freitagabend – ich werde bereits morgen eine neue Fashion-Gallerie hochladen mit einem neuen Look und eventuell auch einem neuen Videoclip, wenn Amazon mein neues Videoprogramm geliefert hat.
After the first posting yesterday about the concert, I found the time to edit three more videoclips from the George Michael concert at Munich Olympiahalle on November 17th, 2011. As you can see, my seats are really close to the stage and the atmosphere was really “amazing”.
I was really surprised to see the combination of George Michael and the Symphonica and enjoyed the look of the stage, the background animation and how they perfectly interact.
The first uploaded video was “Russian Roulette” – first known by Rihanna with his own interpretation. As a big fan of Rihanna it is really hard for me to compare, but both styles are individual. Take a first look:
The second video I selected was “Feeling good” with the real interesting background animation with Dita von Teese and her Burlesque show.
And the third and final video I selected was “Amazing” at the end of the concert where you can also see the people in front of the stage…
If you have the chance to see a concert of George Michael and Symphonica and like the music, you should go there. I can recommend this absolutely.
What I really find great is if an actor allows to share the music via Youtube, Twitter, etc. and have the opinion that people should share the feeling they had visiting the concert.

Yesterday was a special day for me and a step back to my childhood and teenage years. Listening to music of George Michael was something special many years ago and when I heart that he will be in Munich on November 18th, 2011 I had to take the chance and visit a concert, which was not possible in the past.
I was in the lucky situation to have seats in Row 2 – so about 6-7 Meter away from the stage (you will see in on pictures and videoclips later) and had early access to the arena. So I wanted to share the first moments of a nearly empty Olympiahalle about 90 Minutes before the show and getting the first idea of my outfit of the evening.
Black Wolford tights with my classical high heels with the red sole, combined with a leopard long sleeve shirt by Steffen Schraut and a really shining black skirt with frills on the back.
I have to say, the show was really magnificent and worth to be there. His voice is still unbelievable and ready to create goosebumps, playing with a 40-people orchestra 20 – 25 of his personal favorit songs, dressed in black suite – looks like the perfect gentleman.
The concert with a touch of jazz and soul with his individual interpretations was great, playing songs like “Roxanne” by Sting, songs from Nina Simone, Rihanna (Russian Roulette), New Order and a rememberance to famous Amy Winehouse.
George Michael and the Symphonica was a real great show, playing approx 2,5 hours in a completly sold out Munich Olympiahalle and brings his favorite songs like “Amazing”, “I’m your man” and my personal favorite “Freedom” to the end.
It was absolutely worth to have to visit the show – receiving great entertainment and also to see a lot of Munich celebraties (e.g. Daniel Aminati) close behind me.
Translate: Gestern war ein besonderer Tag für mich und eine Zeitreise zurück in meine Kindheit. Die Musik von George Michael war für mich für viele Jahre etwas besonders und als erfahren habe, dass er am 18. November 2011 in der Münchener Olympiahalle ist und ich die Chance und Zeit hatte, musste ich einfach hingehen.
Ich war in der glücklichen Situation Sitzplätze in der 2. Reihe zu bekommen – also ungefähr 6-7 Meter von der Bühne entfernt (seht Ihr auf den Videos und Fotos etwas später) und hatte frühen Einlass in die Arena. Daher wollte ich die ersten Eindrücke der leeren Olympiahalle, ca. 90 Minuten vor der Show mit euch teilen, genauso wie mein Outfit für den Abend.
Schwarze Wolford Strümpfe mit klassischen Highheels mit roter Sohle, kombiniert mit einem langärmligen Leopardshirt von Steffen Schraut und einen sehr glänzenden Rock mit Rüschen auf der Rückseite.
Ich muss sagen, die Show war wirklich atemberaubend und toll gestaltet. Die Stimme ist nach wie vor unglaublich und sorgt für Gänsehautstimmung, gemeinsam mit einem 40-köpfigen Orchester wurden 20-25 seiner persönlichen Favoriten gespielt, gekleidet in einem schwarzen Anzug – wie ein perfekter Gentleman.
Das Konzert mit einem Touch von Jazz und Soul mit seinen individuellen Interpretationen war toll, genauso wie Songs wie z.B. “Roxanne” von Sting, Songs von Nina Simone, Rihanna (Russian Roulette), New Order und eine tolle Erinnerung an Amy Winehouse.
George Michael und die Symphonica war ein tolles Konzert, 2,5 Stunden in der absolut ausverkauften Münchener Olympiahalle und zum Abschluss mit Songs wie “Amazing”, “I am your Man” und mein persönlicher Favorit “Freedom”.
Es war auf jeden Fall ein tolles Konzert – tolle Unterhaltung, bei der auch einige Münchener Celebritites (wie z.B. Daniel Aminati) einige Reihen hinter mir standen… tolles Publikum, tolle Unterhaltung – toller Abend…
