Written by on May 5, 2013 in Hotels Europe, Videos with 1 Comment

The second part of my 60 seconds-hoteltrips is available now – and gives you a one minute impression of the W-Hotel Barcelona, one of the most famous landmarks in Spain and already visible, when you arrive at Barcelona Airport. I recommend to take a seat on the right side of the plane, so you will have a great first impression.

The new 60 seconds video shows you my hotel room – a wonderful Corner Suite at the W-Barcelona – and a few impression from pool, by night, front desk or the walkway around.  I stayed at the W-Barcelona hotel the first time in April 2013 and I am sure, I will go back to the W-Hotel shortly. A wonderful hotel with a friendly staff. You can read the full review of my time at the W-Hotel (here) .

Topshop Minidress – Fashion & Travel Calendar 2013 – May 2013

Written by on May 2, 2013 in Calendar, Fashion, Look of the day with 5 Comments

The fifth fashion update with the May calendar sheet of my Fashion & Travel Calendar 2013 is a dress you might remember from my posting of the Ecipse Bar in Barcelona – but still a wonderful Topshop Minidress.

Fashionblog / Modeblog Update - Minidress by Topshop

It was a real windy day outside Las Vegas and a little bit difficult to find the perfect position and not getting blown away by the wind. But I would come back to this beautiful National Park whenever it is possible. Just a 90 minute drive and a total change of the scenery – silence everywhere and you just listen to the sound of the camera – and the wind… :)

This dress is by Topshop – and I bought it in Las Vegas at the Fashion Mall with a beautiful store by Topshop and so many more outfits I found which might be possible for the calendar shooting – but it might be, that I take a few outfits by Topshop again for the calendar 2014 and nice locations are already in preparation for the next edition.

If you want to buy your outfits online, you will also find the Topshop onlinestore at Topshop.com with delivery to different countries. I like the great styles and designs by Topshops and will show you more outfits in the future :)

Written by on April 30, 2013 in Hotels, Hotels Europe, Travel with 2 Comments

Evaluation as a Starwood Platinum Lifetime guest in the W Hotel Barcelona in Barcelona, Spain. None of the W-Hotels in Europe is so frequently spoken about  under frequent travelers and friends in the recent years – compared to the W-Hotel Barcelona. The silhouette of the hotel is very well known and already visible when landing on Barcelona Airport from the air.

W Hotel Barcelona - a Starwood Luxury Hotel - Review of my stay

I stayed at the W Hotel in Barcelona three days in total and thus had the opportunity to test the different areas of the hotel. If you like to book the hotel with a Classic room (“Wonderful Room”), the regular rate is about 240 EUR (without breakfast). I would now like to introduce you to the different areas of the hotel:

FACTS:

  • Average guest age 20-50 years
  • Varied international audience
  • Very modern and “hip” hotel guests, up to a few families with children
  • Price from 240 EUR per night for a standard room
  • 20,000-25,000 Starpoints
  • 26 floors with views of the Mediterranean Sea and Barcelona
  • Very hard-working, modern and open staff
  • Great location with a view from the bed directly to the sunrise over the Mediterranean Sea

CHECKIN: The ride from the airport to the hotel takes depending on traffic between 20 and 30 minutes and costs about 25 EUR. Directly at the hotel you will be greeted by the friendly doorman and escorted to the reception and immediately taken care care of the luggage. After a quick and effective checkin and ideas of the various options at the hotel I was sent directly to my room, where our luggage was already waiting for me! Very effective!

Room with a view – white miniskirt and leopard shirt at W-Barcelona

Written by on April 28, 2013 in Fashion, Look of the day with 7 Comments

What a beautiful view! That was my first impression when entering this awesome “WOW Suite” at the W-Hotel in Barcelona – 24th floor! Perfect view of the beach and the Mediterranean Sea and my location for fashion and beauty photos.

Fashionblogger / Modeblog - Styling with miniskirt and shirt in Barcelona

I always prefer hotel rooms in the upper floors, especially on places, I have never been before to start discovering the places. So you start sitting on the window and just start looking around – finding Sagrada Familia or the Agbar Tower, watching people walking on the beach or making their first steps on a surfboard or start with Kitesurfing, the large Cruise ships from Ibiza, Mallorca or Menorca entering the harbour of Barcelona.

So the perfect spot to show you one of my Barcelona outfits for the day. You might remember my styling for the Eclipse Bar (here) – but this time a little bit softer with a white miniskirt, high-heels and leopard-shirt.

Park Güell – the green garden of Barcelona by Antoni Gaudi

Written by on April 26, 2013 in Locations with 4 Comments

Next scenic spot of my Barcelona tour will be the famous and one of the biggest parks in Southern Europe, the Park Güell – designed by the world famous architect and Catalan – Antoni Gaudi between 1900 and 1914 for Eusebi Güell.

After showing you already the wonderful places of “Las Ramblas” (here) and “Sagrada Família” (here) this will be my final destination report from Barcelona, but with a must-see spot.

Park Guell by Antoni Gaudi, Barcelona - Spain

The park belongs already to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and with 17ha is really huge. You will find the typical constructions of Antoni Gaudi and the idea was, to create a commercially housing site – but without success. During the construction they hoped to sell 60 houses and villas on this formerly rocky hill with less vegetation, but only three houses were sold.

Las Ramblas – Shopping paradise or tourist attraction and hotspot

Written by on April 25, 2013 in Locations with 9 Comments

When speaking about Barcelona, everyone told me that I have to visit Las Ramblas or La Rambla for sure. It will be the number one tourist attraction and most famous street in Barcelona and I will love it and enjoy the moments.

Barcelona City Impression with attractions and a lot of tourists

I have to reflect that Las Ramblas shows different aspects of Barcelona – the historical building and houses, the beautiful places with all the flowers and tradition, the entrance to the Mercado de la Boqueria (food market) but also the traffic jam around, the tourists (like me) and the uncountable number of people who like to sell you something or offer you special services.

Barcelona City Impression with attractions and a lot of tourists

When you start your tour at the Monument of Columbus at the lower end of “Las Ramblas” you will find a beautiful historic monument, 60 meters  (approx 200 feet) tall and is a reminder for the first return of Columbus and the report to Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand V.. Walking the street the the north, you will find many students of art, starting with illustrations of the Monument of Columbus or the street “Las Ramblas” and it is quite interesting to see.
