Visiting 9/11 Memorial – New York City – World Trade Center

Yesterday was my visit for my trip to the former place of the World Trade Center and the new building site. I saw parts of the new WTC1 on my last trip, but this time the memorial place was opened to public (Museum will open on 9/11/12 with a huge exhibition).

For me, it was depressing feeling – when I was younger and we went to New York, it was always the tradition to go on WTC platform first. Now you stand there, where about 3,000 people died in minutes after these horrible attacks.

You have to pre-register and order your tickets online without any costs and gt the tickets by email. Just show your tickets, pass security controls and you are allowed to enter.

In my opinion the place is really impressing and a must-visit-place in New York as you can see on the pictues below. I did it twice, in the morning and short before closing in the afternoon, as I wanted to see the lights.

Translate: Am gestrigen Tage war mein Trip an die ehemalige Stelle der Twin-Towers des World Trade Centers geplant und ebenfalls an die neue Baustelle. Ich konnte den neuen WTC1 bereits auf meiner letzten Reise sehen, aber die Gedenkstätte war erst dieses mal geöffnet (das Museum wird am 11. September 2012 mit einer sehr großen Ausstellung öffnen)

Für mich war es ein bedrückendes Gefühl – als ich jünger war, gehörte es immer zu den ersten Dingen auf der NYC-Liste, die Aussichtsplattform zu besuchen. Jetzt steht man dort, wo innerhalb kürzester Zeit fast 3.000 Menschen getötet wurden.

Ihr benötigt zum Besuch der Gedenkstätte Tickets, die Ihr vorab online bestellen könnt und ohne Kosten per Email erhaltet. Danach nur noch Tickets am Einlass vorzeigen, Sicherheitskontrollen (wie am Flughafen) passieren und Ihr könnt die Gedenkstätte betreten.

Meiner Meinung nach ist das 9/11-Memorial wirklich sehr gelungen und ein Pflichtbesucht in New York, wie man auf den Fotos sehen kann. Ich habe es einmal im Morgen gemacht und war am Nachmittag noch einmal da, da ich die Beleuchtung sehen wollte.

Arrived in New York City – First pics of Times Square by night

It is finally done and you might see the first pictures already on my facebook or twitter account – but I wanted to take the chance to share them with my lovely readers on my blog also.

Immigration and getting the luggage was really quick, but the shuttle service needed about 90 minutes from JFK-Airport to Midtown-Manhattan. Next time I take the taxi again.

So you will receive the first pictures of Times Square already by night, but wanted to show you all – I arrived safely and had a quick coffee at Starbucks @ Times Square.

So before I will go out for a quick dinner in the evening – you can take the look on the first three pics of Times Square… more pictures and updates will follow tomorrow.

Flying to New York City – John F. Kennedy airport with Lufthansa – Flight LH 410

I wrote a few days ago that I cannot wait to go to New York again. I love the city, the possibilities and also the great places, shops and clubs. Whenever you go to New York – you find something new.

For me it is great to visit cities living 24hours, so when you feel the jetlag and wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning, you can go to Times Square or other spots for an early breakfast in the morning.

I took the flight this morning from Munich Airport (MUC – gate H14) to New York – John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK) operated by Lufthansa (flight LH410) and it was really interesting to see that most business people fly economy class now. I cannot understand the policy by Lufthansa – offering flights for 400€ in economy (including taxes) and for a business class ticket (without flatbeds) they want to charge you between 3.000 and 4.000€ – so business class was nearly empty, economy class filled by 70%. Usually I fly business class but if they offer the flight for 39€ plus 360€ taxes – you can better fly twice to New York before wasting the money for a business class fare.

The service on board was o.k. – typical Lufthansa and not to compare with Etihad or Emirates, Thai Airways or Singapore Airways, but what to expect for 400€.

I am currently writing this somewhere between Iceland and Greenland and have 5 hours remaining flight time. Usually I wanted to post this text online, as Lufthansa offers on most of their longhaul intercontinental flights between Europe and North America internet access (Lufthansa-Flynet) for a small fee and I wanted to try it, but it won’t work in the whole plane, so you have to receive these news, when I am in NYC.

The schedule for my next days in New York is filled with a lot of things I want to do and visit – starting with a a trip to the 9/11 memorial, which was open in September last year and is a must-to-visit spot for me, before going elsewhere. When I was younger it was tradition to take the first subway down to World Trade Center and going to the platform for a first impression of the city again.

Before grabbing the last things for my next trip I checked my emails this morning and found an interesting email by Lufthansa with their offers for flights to Asia and especially when you see all the snow outside, the temperatures deep below zero – you wanted to go to a sunnier place and I took a look on the pictures of my trip to Bangkok some time ago.

It is such an amazing city with the combination of great culture and wonderful buildings and wonderful and very very friendly people, wherever you go. It is hard to find a big city, so different – but still wonderful.

So if you are not able to go to Bangkok by Lufthansa, you might enjoy a little bit of the first part of my pictures of Bangkok from the past. I will share more pictures with you shortly. At the end of the pictures, you will also find a small videoclip showing my view from the hotelroom to famous Chao Phraya river…

Es ist so eine faszinierende und schöne Stadt, die Kombination von toller Kultur und wunderschönen Bauwerken, dazu sehr sehr freundliche Menschen, wohin man auch immer geht. Es ist schwer eine Großstadt zu finden, die so unterschiedlich – aber absolut wunderbar ist.

Falls Ihr auch die Gelegenheit des Fluges mit Lufthansa nach Asien, oder auch besonders nach Bangkok, nicht nutzen könnt, hoffe ich das Euch die Bilder aus Bangkok vom letzten Aufenthalt gefallen. Google Friend Connect will be retired March 1st, 2012 – follow Google+

Most of you also read in their emails – that Google will retire the service of Google Friend Connect to all blogs not operated by Google. That means that all webpages containing the Google-Friend-Connect outside the blogger website will not be able to be connected to their followers after March 1st, 2012.

For that situation I decided to follow the service of Google+ immediately and add the extra box for Google+ in the meantime also on the right part of my page, so that you can continue following me.

I will start adding updates and special pictures (especially on the go – or during my trips) also to my facebook and google+ profile – so if you want to know where I am, which restaurant or store I am currently visiting, please add my Google+ Profile to your favorites or simply add the “+1″ if you are already registered at Google+

I will start sending an invitation to all users in the mid of February not transfered to the Google+ to stay in contact with you. If you have further question, please feel free to contact me.

Spending the afternoon in Munich – visiting city and PURO-Friseure

Today, I finally found the time to go to Munich city again, it was the first day this week without clouds – so lets enjoy the sunshine a little bit – make the final store visits for my trip to New York and visit my favorite hair stylist of PURO-Friseure München in the afternoon for a fresh styling.

I already questioned which nail polish I should use, as I wanted to have an intense red nail polish color for my trip – the question was Chanel – Le Vernis – 475 Dragon or 159 Fire or the darker red OPI (Quarter of a cent cherry) nail polish. The decision was: Chanel 475 Dragon Le Vernis. I really like the nail polishes by Chanel – so classy red colors.

When entering the city in the afternoon it was still sunny and arriving at Marienplatz, Munich was great – blue sky, little white clouds and not so crowded – might depend because of the temperate of -5 degrees celsius – but I love the clear days, as you can also see on the picture with view to the world famous Victualienmarket.

Arriving right in time after that at PURO-Friseure München and my famous hair stylist Patrice Hess (also known by a lot of TV shows on German television) was ready for another great styling. What a wonderful treatment during the afternoon and finished right now to go another great Munich spot – the Munich Sushibar in Schwabing.

What do you think about the new curly style – just a small add on – but I personally think, it makes the look for the winter a little bit more “natural”.

Translate: Heute habe ich noch einmal die Zeit gefunden um in die Münchener Innenstadt zu fahren, es war der erste Tag ohne Wolken – wunderbarer Sonnenschein und schnell die letzten Einkäufe für meinen Trip nach New York erledigen und danach noch bei meinem bevorzugten Hairstylisten von PURO-Friseure München vorbeigehen, für ein frisches Styling.

Ich hatte heute am frühen Nachmittag ja bereits gefragt, welchen Nagellack ich verwenden sollte und zur Auswahl standen – Chanel – Le Vernis – 475 Dragon oder 159 Fire – oder der dunklere OPI Nagellack (Quarter of a cent cherry). Die Entscheidung ist dann gefallen auf den Chanel Nagellack 475 Dragon Le Vernis. Ich liebe Nagellacke von Chanel – die sind so wunderschön klassisch.

Als ich die Stadt am Nachmittag erreicht hatte, war es noch schön sonnig am Marienplatz in München, blauer Himmel, kleine weiße Wolken und nicht so überfüllt – was wohl an der Temperatur von -5°C gelegen haben düfte. Aber ich liebe diese klaren kalten Tage, wir Ihr auf den Fotos vom Viktualienmarkt sehen könnt.

Pünktlich dann noch bei PURO Friseure München am Isartorplatz eingetroffen und direkt von meinem Stylisten Patrice Hess (bekannt auch aus vielen TV-Shows, wie z.B. auch bei RTL 2 – Extrem Schön) und bereit für ein wenig Styling. Ich hatte eine wunderbare, entspannte Behandlung und direkt nun weiter zru Sushibar in Schwabing.

Was haltet Ihr von dem leicht gelockten Look? Nur ein wenig verändert – aber ich finde es wirkt im Moment ein wenig freundlicher und natürlicher…

Dior and Vogue calendar for daily or weekly usage – black and white

A few days ago I received a parcel by a friend sending me two calendars for the year 2012 he found randomly in a store and thought about me. I know her for years and whenever we go shopping together in Duesseldorf it is much fun.

She sent me these two calendars for my desk in my office and also for my desk at home and I really like the pictures of the past.

The Vogue calendar shows different black and white pictures taken between 1950 and 1990 and are really interesting to compare the style with today. The second daily calendar shoes different covers and ads, e.g. the one by DIOR you found on the second picture.

From time to time I will share a few great pictures of these calendars with you and I hope you like them. They are not from the Pirelli calendar or Lambertz calendar, but still very nice :-)

Translate: Vor einigen Tagen habe ich ein Paket von einer Freundin erhalten, die mir zwei Kalendar für das Jahr 2012 noch senden wollte, die Sie zufällig gefunden hat. Ich kenne Sie seit Jahren und wann immer wir zusammen in Düsseldorf unterwegs waren, war es großer Spass.

Sie hat mir gleich zwei Kalendar zugeschickt, damit ich einen für meinen Schreibtisch im Büro und einen für meinen Schreibtisch zu Hause habe und ich mag diese schönen alten Bilder.

Der Vogue Kalendar zeigt verschiedene schwarz und weiss Bilder, aufgenommen zwischen 1950 und 1990 und es ist wirklich interessant den Stil zwischen damals und heute zu vergleichen. Der zweite Kalender zeigt verschiedene Cover und Werbungen, z.B. die abgebildete Werbung von Dior, die Ihr auf dem zweiten Bild seht.

Von Zeit zu Zeit werde ich nun weitere Bilder mal aus den Kalendern zeigen, die mir gefallen. Sie sind zwar nicht aus dem Pirelli oder Lambertz Kalender, aber doch sehr schön :-)

You know all about my trip to Davos, Switzerland a few days before christmas and I finally found the time to edit the very short videoclip and upload it to my Youtube-Channel.

Davos was really interesting and you might have already seen pictures of Davos in the news on the annual World Economic Forum with Global leaders and famous CEOs. On my visit a few days before christmas, it was really empty – but it started snowing (as you can see on the video). On the video the outfit you already saw on my pictures with the LACOSTE sweater/dress, combined with boots and the faux fur scarf by Hugo Boss.

Visiting Davos, Switzerland - on a snowy day - Davos famous for the World Economic Forum

Winter look – Napapijri Sweater with GAS denim miniskirt and white tights and boots

Time for another winter look of the day update. I took these pictures three days ago, when sun comes out in the morning – fresh snow everywhere, sunshine – perfect for a walk on the park or meeting friends.

The weather was much nicer the days ago, as it is still freezing in the afternoon here in Munich and the forecast for the next days with temperatures between -10 and -15°C sounds horrible. So good that I will leave Munich shortly and go to New York.

Winter look - Napa Pijri Sweater with GAP denim miniskirt and white tights and boots

Translate: Es wird Zeit für einen neuen Winterlook des Tages. Ich habe diese Fotos vor drei Tagen aufgenommen, als die Sonne morgens herauskam, frischer Schnee überall, Sonnenschein – perfekt für einen Spaziergang im Park oder Freunde treffen.

Das Wetter war dort viel angenehmer, es ist auch heute Nachmittag noch unter null Grad und die Vorhersage für die nächsten Tage sagt Temperaturen zwischen -10 und -15°C voraus. Wie gut das ich München in Kürze nach New York verlasse.

Lady Gaga Tour 2012/2013 – 450 new concerts and locations

The rumours getting louder and louder and I received the information a few days ago, after the big success on the Monster Ball Tour 2009/2010 – Lady Gaga will return on stage in 2012 and 2013.

I saw the Monster Ball Tour 2009 and was really satisfied with the show and cannot wait to go back to a concert in 2012 or 2013. As rumours said, they are already practicing for the Lady Gaga Tour 2012 and the cities and availability to purchase tickets will be announced shortly. The tour with about 450 concerts should start in Asia and be the longest pop-tour in history (more concerts than the Beatles and the Rolling Stones)

The name of the tour is not yet announced but Lady Gaga already said in the past that it might be possible to name the Lady Gaga Tour 2012/2013 “Born this way ball” or “The third Monster ball”…

For me it is always great to these extreme stylish concerts and I will try to go to Munich and second location. It is great to compare the atmosphere of your hometown with other venues worldwide.

I will update this posting shortly, after I receive details on the tour.

Ich habe die Monster Ball Tour 2009 gesehen und war sehr beeindruckt von der Show und kann nicht erwarten wieder ein Konzert in 2012 oder 2013 besuchen. Wie Gerüchte sagen, sind die Proben für die Tour bereits angelaufen für die Lady Gaga Tour 2012 und die Städte und Kartenvorverkaufsstellen werden in Kürze bekannt gegeben. Die Lady Gaga Tour soll ca. 450 Konzerte beinhalten und zunächst in Asien beginnen und die längste Konzert-Tour in der Popgeschichte werden (mehr Konzerte als die Beatles und die Rolling Stones)

Der Name der Tour ist noch nicht bekannt gegeben, aber Lady Gaga sagte vor kurzem, dass der Name der nächsten Lady Gaga Tour 2012/2013 wohl “Born this way ball” or “The third Monster ball” heißen könnten.

Für mich ist es immer wieder toll, diese extremen stylischen Konzerte zu beuschen und werde sowohl München, wie auch einen zweiten Ort besuchen. Es ist immer wieder toll die Stimmung der Heimat mit Orten weltweit zu vergleichen.
